GLYCOLIC PEEL

Natural facial peels are exfoliating and designed to smooth and improve the appearance of skin with the use of fruit acids. The five main fruit acids are; citric, glycolic, lactic, malic, and tartaric. Citric acid is derived from citrus, glycolic from sugar cane, malic from apples, and tartaric from grapes. While lactic acid is milk-derived (think Cleopatra’s milk baths), it is still considered a fruit acid.

Fruit extracts are equally as effective and much safer than chemical peels. These fruit acids work by loosening cell adhesion, resulting in removal of dead skin cells. This clears pores, reducing blemishes, and softens fine lines and wrinkles. Peels also help to treat scars, pigmentation problems, and sun damaged skin.

Natural skin peels are a safe and effective way to renew the complexion and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Applied to warm, damp skin the fruit acids work to rid the skin of dry, dead skin cells, revealing an even skin tone and refined appearance. Massage in gently and allow the product to go to work, over-scrubbing may result in irritation. For best results peels should be used regularly, 1-2 times per week, and may be used on the entire face or as a spot treatment.

This facial will resurface the skin, providing dramatically softer, smoother texture; reducing fine lines and wrinkles and scaring.

Glycolic acid helps reduce the “build up” at the lower levels of the skin. There is no down time too: immediately after the treatment you can apply make-up and continue with your day.

A gentle glycolic acid peel can be performed with varying percentages of glycolic acid, a substance derived from sugar cane. Glycolic acid loosens the glue-like attachments or cellular cement that is characteristic of many skin conditions such as ageing, acne, skin discolouration and coarse texture. After just a few weeks your skin looks brighter, clearer and dry skin becomes hydrated and smooth. Recommended amount of treatments are 6 treatments in 6-12 weeks.

The depth of the resurfacing peel is controlled by three factors:

The concentration of the solution.
The length of time it is applied.
The preparation of the skin.
It is therefore important to appreciate that all individuals who wish to have glycolic peels must be on a home care programme, using glycolic acid based products for at least two weeks prior to the first peel and also during the course of peels.
